How All-on-4 Dental Implants Work

All-on-4 dental implants are a registered trademark of Nobel Biocare that allows four titanium implants to be placed on the anterior maxilla. The All-on-4 places the implants on the anterior maxilla because the jawbone is thickest in this area; thus providing a more secure place for the titanium devices.
All-on-4 dental implants allows the implantation to take place even in the mouths of people who have less than adequate amounts of bone. Most implants of this nature require a large amount of jawbone for the dentist to implant the titanium devices in.
When there are not enough jawbones the dentist will graft bone from other areas of the patient's body to create an adequate amount. This bone grafting and the healing afterwards take between three and six months. Then the patient has to wait an additional three to six months before their implants become stable enough to attach the teeth to.
This means the patient who needs a bone graft may have to wait as long as a year before their dental procedures are completed.
Another problem with the traditional implants is that people with diseases like diabetes are not good candidates for the bone grafting. More than twenty percent of patients that wish to have implants are not good candidates because they need bone grafts performed and they are unacceptable for these grafts.
All-on-4 dental implants makes it possible for the majority of the people who are not candidates for the typical implants to get implants done. Because the procedure takes only four pillars and places them in the posterior portion of the mouth the procedure can be performed on people who would normally have to have bone grafting done.
The All-on-4 dental implants will hold twelve to fourteen teeth in place with just the four pillars. These implants also allow the dentist to install the teeth on the same day that the pillars are implanted.
Patients love the fact that they do not have to wait for months before they can have their new teeth loaded onto the pillars. Dentists and surgeons love the fact that these devices are less invasive and more of their patients qualify for the prosthetics.
The prices that you would have to pay in the event that you had this procedure will be broken into two phases. The first phase will be when you pay your dentist for the tooth extractions and the second phase will be when you pay for the titanium pillars and the teeth that are going to be loaded onto them.
The material the actual teeth are made from will help determine the final price of the procedure. Porcelain teeth are more expensive than some of the synthetic versions are. The porcelain teeth tend to look more natural and feel better to the patient.
You have to be assessed by a dental expert to see if you qualify for these devices.
